Drying Out Your Attic After Water Damage To Your Nashville Home

SERVPRO Technicians Expertly Dry Out Your Attic After Damage

No homeowner wants to deal with water damage. Water can enter your home in multiple ways and cause extensive damage and disruption. Your attic is at risk of water damage just as much as the rest of your house.

Many things can cause water damage to the attic of your Nashville home. For example, clogged condensation pans in HVAC systems, or broken humidifiers or water heaters. Extreme weather or damage to your roof due to a falling tree or other debris also put your attic at risk of water damage. Attics are challenging to dry due to space constraints and other factors such as lack of light. SERVPRO arrives ready to assess your attic and put a complete drying plan into place.

Insulation is a major concern after water damage to an attic. It is often possible to save fiberglass insulation. We use powerful insulation vacuums that are compact enough to fit into even small attic spaces, but strong enough to collect all the fiberglass insulation so it can be taken away for drying.

Our IICRC-certified technicians remove waterlogged sheetrock that has become too damaged to be saved. Sheetrock that is fit to be left in situ is monitored throughout the drying process using Teflon coated moisture probes for an accurate reading of its moisture levels.

Even with careful handling, there is a risk of dust and debris when removing insulation and sheetrock. SERVPRO sets up a containment field to keep debris in one place if necessary. We also have negative air machines at our disposal if needed. A duct is attached to the machine to vent contaminated air outside of your attic space.

The next stage after clearing out any damaged sheetrock or wet insulation is to dry the attic thoroughly. Our technicians have access to a range of air movers to help this process along. Air movers blow air across wet surfaces to increase water evaporation and speed up drying. Adjustable centrifugal air movers are carefully placed to direct air where it is most needed, while downdraft air movers are well suited to drying out larger attic spaces. Low profile movers provide powerful air movement that is easy to direct into even small spaces.

Our drying aim is to restore your attic as quickly as possible and save any insulation that can be saved to minimize inconvenience to you.
